    Wine and Health

Experiments were carried out throughout the world and there were many done in the Czech Republic to discover the effect of wine on people’s health. For example, it was discovered that there was a significant reduction of fibrinogen in the blood after the regular daily consumption of 0.35 l (approx a small glass) of white Moravian wine during the period of 4 weeks. Fibrinogen is a protein involved in the clotting of blood (coronaritis). During some experiments it was also discovered that the level of positive HDL cholesterol was increased in the patients taking part in the experiment.

Consumption of wine prevents repeated heart attack

According to some French scientists a mild wine consumption is the way to avoid a heart attack in people who had already experienced such illness. Doctor Lorgeril of the French University of Grenoble together with other scientists studied the impact of wine on 353 men aged between 40 and 60 years. Some of these men already had more than one heart attack. Men, who consumed 2 glasses of wine every day, managed to reduce substantially the risk of the heart attack by about 50% as opposed to those who were abstinent.

    The Immune system

Wine also has a great impact on the antibacterial and immune system. Despite the general belief that alcohol in the human body has the effect of weakening the immune system, the truth is different in case of wine consumption where there has been no scientific evidence of wine weakening or damaging the immune system. Wine can also be used as prevention against the flue virus. Mainly the red wine has also the effect of destroying bacteria causing the infection of the digestive system. This means that red wine protects against decease such as salmonellas and diarrheal.
